Make Haste
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.-- Luke 2:15-16 Silence filled the air. The shepherds had just had their quiet evening disturbed by angels proclaiming the Savior’s birth. Now, the shepherds stared at the empty sky in wonder. There was a moment of stillness. Then with great joy, they turned to each other announcing that they must go and find the babe that the angels chose to tell them. Maybe the shepherds were all talking at once; sheep bleating loudly in the excitement. With haste, the shepherds gathered themselves and went to see God’s promise fulfilled. How often do we do that?
